#auslibchat is a monthly Twitter chat organised by the ALIA New Generation Advisory Committee (NGAC) aimed at Australian and New Zealand GLAM professionals. Each chat has a different focus and questions are posted on the NGAC website in advance. #auslibchat is an excellent way to share ideas across different GLAM institutions as well as to touch base with and extend my personal learning network.
This month’s topic, Technology Tools, provided for a robust discussion, particularly around eContent, accessibility, video content and assessing emerging tech tools. I was particularly interested in the discussion regarding libraries focusing on ensuring tech is relevant to their particular community/solves a particular problem and not just chasing the latest tech trends. I plan to discuss video content with my manager (are our existing videos well utilised? Are there plans to make more? On what topics?) and perhaps have a go at making a video tutorial. This would be a new and useful skill for me.
